Skoda to debut its new compact SUV, Karoq on May 18 | Autoculture

Skoda Auto has been working on its new compact SUV, the Skoda Karoq. This unique name has been derived from the language of the indigenous tribal people who are based in an island that sets off from the southern coast of Alaska.

The Skoda Karoq is a newly designed compact SUV from the house of Skoda and will set a benchmark for the company itself in terms of designing. Bernhard Maier, the CEO of Skoda has said that the car impresses with its uniqueness in every aspect, be it the design language or the product identity itself.

Skoda has been naming its cars from the inspiration of natural location or unearthed and unperturbed natural beauty. Earlier, the nomenclature of the Skoda Kodiaq was inspired by the Kodiak island. Skoda aims to instill the untamed and unspoilt nature of the landscape into the future SUVs to make them more fascinating. The term Karoq is a combination of two words - ‘KAA’RAQ’, which means car, and ‘RUQ’, which means arrow.

The Skoda Karoq will be very spacious, just like any other Skoda car. It will also offer full LED headlamps, driver assistance technology and digital instrument cluster (first time in Skoda). The Karoq will be offered in a total of five engine options out of which four will be absolutely new. The power figures in these engine options will vary from 115 bhp for the base variant and would extend up to 190 bhp for the powerful top end variants.

The Skoda Karoq will make its first public debut on May 18 in Stockholm and will be launched in the market towards the second half of 2017 itself. This product is a part of Skoda’s 2025 future strategy and the company will continue to expand all the model range in the upcoming years.
