Toyota’s premium brand Lexus has made its way to India and launch 2 models - the ES 300h and RX 450h. Initially, it was speculated that the company will sell its premium products through the Toyota dealership channel, but now, the company has opened its first dealership in Mumbai.
The Lexus Mumbai dealership is located near the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport's domestic terminal at Taj Santacruz, Mumbai and is situated just next to the Maserati showroom. Followed by the Mumbai showroom, the company will further extend its dealerships network in New Delhi, Gurgaon, and Bangalore along with it's after sales service facilities that will also be available in Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kochi.
In India, Lexus introduced three products marking its Indian debut - the RX 450h, the ES 300h and the LX 450d, out of which LX 450d is is still slated for later launch. The ES 300h is powered by the same 2.5-litre petrol unit (as seen on the Toyota Camry hybrid) coupled to a CVT unit that cranks out 158 bhp of maximum power with 213 Nm of peak torque, which combined to an electric motor that belts out 141 bhp with 270 Nm. The sedan gets a price tag of Rs 55.27 lakh and will pounce against BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
The LX 450h is power packed with a newly developed 3.5-litre direct-injected V6 hybrid unit that can easily belt out a combined system output of 304 bhp and 334 Nm of top torque. The crossover will compete with the likes of the BMW X6, Porsche Cayenne, and the Volvo XC90. It is available in two variant – the luxury version is priced at Rs 1.07 crore and the F- sport version has been priced at Rs 1.09 crore (All Prices are Ex showroom).
